Rare blooms

Jan 12, 2023

Some rare flowers bloom for only one single day and then are gone. Their scarcity of course makes them all the more desirable. What is it about human nature that makes us value that scarcity above all else? I’m not trained in psychology or philosophy so I will leave that question to someone else haha. I am however particularly fascinated at the moment by these ephemeral Weldenia Candida and their unusual three-petalled form standing up on delicate fleshy stems: So beautiful! Native to Mexico and Guatemala but apparently possible to grow here so I think I’ll try some in my garden so i can study them more closely. If I happen to spot them on the day they bloom of course!
